Finding Vintage Figurines and Knick Knacks
Upcoming Items at All Vintage Knick Knack

Hello Friends ~

The weather this past weekend was gorgeous, and I came down with a whopping case of Spring Fever! And, you know what that means...traveling all over to estate sales, auctions and flea markets! I had a ball! I found so many terrific items, including vintage knick knacks which I'll be listing in AllVintageKnickKnack.etsy.com by this coming weekend, 3/16/13. Here's a sneak peek at three in particular, which you may like. They're adorable little lambs from the 1960s with glass bumps for wooly fur! They're Made in Japan figurines and they're in pristine condition. I just love the way the Japanese artists painted expressions on knickknacks from the 1920s through the 1960s. And, these little gems are no exception!

Until next time, friends ~ Happy Collecting!

Figurine and Knickknack Collections
From Customers of All Vintage Knick Knack

Hello Friends ~

Today, I'm continuing my series on "Customer Collections" with a very nice woman from the Lone Star State of Texas. M. has a great little collection of cats. I'm proud to say M. found several of her porcelain kitties in my shop. I'm thrilled they're now on display in her home!

I'm sure we can all empathize with M. because she says she needs to find more room for her growing collection. "My Secretary desks' shelf is getting full; and the basket next to it is also full of Beswick kitties. I will have to find another secret place to put new ones in." I know what that's like. I have china closets full of little keepsakes!

For those of us who collect figurines, isn't it wonderful to think about the history behind each piece as we acquire it? Where it's from, where it was made, and how it was displayed. These are all questions that run through my mind when I find a special piece to add to my collection. M. is no exception. She says, "I arrange them and imagine the stories that they would tell." Below is an adorable Made in Japan kitty that M. found in my shop. It has beautiful grey tinting and fabulous facial features. M. has this frisky little feline sitting underneath a jade lemon tree.

In the photo below, M. shows us a larger view of her beautiful collection of cats.

Many thanks to M. from the Lone Star State for sharing her lovely collection with us! And, I also thank M. for being a valued customer of AllVintageKnickKnack.etsy.com

If you would like to share your collection, please send photos to AllVintageKnickKnack@gmail.com and we'll also share the joy of collecting with the world!

Until next time, friends ~

Customer Figurine & Knick Knack Collections

Hello Friends ~

As promised, here's the first in a series of posts about all of the fun and joy that collecting knick knacks and figurines can create in our lives!

Last week, I asked my customers from AllVintageKnickKnack.etsy.com to send in photos of figurines that they found in my shop and that they now have on display in their homes. Like the photo to the left, sent in from C. in Florida.

What a work of art this masterpiece is! Talk about a unique and creative way to display knick knacks and figurines! Instead of displaying them on shelves and in shadowboxes, C. took all of her pieces and grouped them together to form a whimsical wonderland on the frame of a large mirror. I just can't get over how creative this is! Not only are there figurines from my shop included in this artful creation, C. has also included knick knacks that are near and dear to her heart.

"I used broken pieces, special pieces that belonged to my grandmother, and pieces that I bought from you," says C.

Let's take a closer look at all the beautiful pieces that C. attached to her mirror frame. There are plates, a Dutch boy and girl in Flow Blue and a little windmill. There's also a tea cup, and can you find the tiny kitten?

I'm absolutely thrilled that pieces from my shop are included in something so beautiful and something that will last for generations to come.

"Recognize the center top piece?" C. says, "I bought it from you and it MADE my mirror."

Here's a closer look at the bottom right corner of C.'s mirror.  Can you spot the little Made in Japan high heeled shoe? And, look at those two adorable puppies!

When I last chatted with C., via email, she said she was busy completing tasks associated with her full time job. It was the weekend, and C. was dutifully working on her own time.

"(I'm) trying to take care of my work so that I can spend the rest of the weekend "makin' stuff," C. said.

Well, I think C. should have a business on the side makin' these mirrors for the public!

Many thanks C., for submitting your photo and CONGRATULATIONS on a creative creation that's sure to inspire many.

Keep those photos coming, so we can share the joy of collecting with everyone! You can send your collections to AllVintageKnickKnack@gmail.com

Until next time, friends, happy collecting!

New Figurines & Customer Submissions

Hello My Friends ~

I've been having so much fun collecting Made in Occupied Japan and Made in Japan figurines! Here are a couple of my favorites, so far....

Aren't these little elephants adorable? They're salt and pepper shakers. They still have the original corks and the red and gold "Made in Japan" stickers on their bottoms.

I'm going to estimate these are from the 1950s. And, as I like to say, they are in 'China-Closet-Kept-Condition."

Here's an oldie, but a goodie! Take a look at the little kitten peeking over the edge of the boot. She's looking for the little mouse who's tucked into the side of the boot. What a wonderfully whimsical piece! This is a very old figurine, most likely from the 1920s or 1930s. It's stamped "Japan" on the bottom.

How about this snappy little zebra? I love the hand painting on her. And the coloring is lovely. She's also an old piece and well-made. The crazing of the glaze adds to her personality. It's almost as if she's playfully flirting with those gorgeous blue eyes. Pink ears and a pert little pink snout, along with her proud little stripes and black hooves, round out this beauty.

I'd like to thank my customers who've sent in photos of their collections. If you've purchased figurines from my shop, http://www.AllVintageKnickKnack.etsy.com, I'd love to see them in your collection! Please send photos to AllVintageKnickKnack@gmail.com (spammers will be reported) and I'll feature your photos here on my blog.  Don't worry, I'll only use your first name and state :)

I'm in the process of planning future blog posts and there are some exciting and fun (and instructional) updates heading your way! I'll be featuring photos from my customers' collections, showing you how to touch up your treasures that may have some paint loss by using paint and markers, and we'll take a look at some "naughty" knick knacks that are sure to bring a smile.

Just one more thing, please enter your email address to the right and you'll be notified each time I make a new entry here on my blog. I'd love to be able to build up this blog so that more people can enjoy what we already do ;)

Until next time my friends, happy collecting!
